Band Philosophy
When you ask us in wich style our music has to be categorised, we probably will answer 'the dark scene'. All three of us like to attent Wave-Gothic events cause here we have the possibility to get in peace with the rest of the world and with ourselves without the pressure of the daily tasks. The Goth scene is for Companions In Art a scene where people have respect for everyone's opinion, a kind of disorientated order where you haven't got the need trying to be someone else. Do we think about ourselves that we are Goths? We do, because for CIA being Goth has all to do with what you are and not what you wear, even if you aren't dressed in black. When you try to wake the silent majority with shocking clothes, music and images you are probably half-way to be a goth. Being yourself and respecting others being is the other important part. When you like black clothes, the night, dark places and you're not afraid to discuss about death ("Homini necesse est mori"), you are probably one of the Goths out there...
Jo Ballet Composer
We have tried to find out when he started with music. Probably he played his first instrument on his first birthday. Music is his life, and his goal is always high enough so most guy's can't follow him when he starts with all his features and self-created sounds. The only thing we can say about Jo, pleasure to make music with a guy who knows what it's all about.
Gunter Vanreppelen Composer
Also hard to find out when he started his first musical experience. Previous projects, f.e. G.J. Bava together with Jo, were always more or less new-wave orientated. He lived his youth during these wavy eighties, and used his voice with a deep dark sound, but he's the first to know that we don't need to take our life too seriously. If we have the rythm, the sound for creating a new dimension, Gunter writes the lyrics like babies cry at night.
Geert Surkijn Bad Influence
It's hard to say when Geert will ever learn to play an instrument. Although he's following the darkscene from the early 80's, names and song titles are the most hated questions for this guy. But as a non-musician the other two can use the wicked pattern thinking for making nice beats and surprising loops on computer. Geert after all does know everything about the technical aspects of all the technology the band is using these days...
